When Jeremy first introduced me to the Ecowitt WH51 sensors that measure 7 in of soil, I was amazed at how accurate and useful these sensors really are in comparison with everything else I have tried including Blumat $90 sensor that only gives you moisture but doesn't have any app nor any capability to send alerts or access via Bluetooth Wi-Fi like these Ecowitt devices have. So, I started using them on everything I have growing so I bought 12 of these sensors and I have to buy two Wi-Fi gateways because you can only add 8 moisture sensors to one Wi-Fi gateway which is not a big deal at all, but my question was how do I get better readings with larger containers 15 gallons or bigger and my question was answered shortly after when I got an email from Ecowitt that they are in process of making a new WH51L device with 1 Meter/1 Yard long wire attached to the sensor so it could be used in much larger/deeper containers and obviously it was a little more expensive than the previous WH51 units and they will be available in a couple of months. Finally couple of months went by and I bought 4 of these new WH51L devices and I was blown away at how accurate they are and how easy it is to use them and how convenient they really are because both WH51 and WH51L models have capabilities of connecting to Wi-Fi and have access to the sensors information from anywhere in the world as long as you have access to the internet, you can also set up different alerts such as when the battery gets to a…
